Product Description
One of the most comprehensive books about this subject on the market, Optical Fiber Communication Systems includes a broad and complete selection of topics, descriptive detail, and a well-structured presentation. Each chapter is enriched with many examples, allowing readers to easily follow the material presented. It is organized into four main sections: 1) an Introductory section, which covers the fundamentals of optics and semi-conductor theory; 2) an Electro-Optics section, which describes optical sources, detectors, amplifiers, transmitters, receivers, and transreceivers; 3) an Optics section that includes optical fibers and modulation; and 4) a Systems section, that covers multiplexing, optical systems, and networks. This book serves as an excellent reference source for any major topics in the field of fiber optics, making it useful for project managers, RND scientists, design engineers, and applications engineers.

Customer Reviews:
5 out of 5 stars Excellent book, lousy printer   December 1, 2003

So far, the book is excellent, but it came without the LinkSIM demo CD. Checking multiple copies in a local bookstore I found none had the CD in them. It was hard as heck to get in touch with the printer, Pearson Prentice Hall. Once I was able to get through, it was as though I was from another planet....no help at all. Kolimbris should call PPH and demand better QA/QC, as they are not responding to me.
